Four benefits of Nest for SDA providers

Article by The Nest Team

In a nutshell, Nest automatically matches your Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) rooms with eligible people with disability who meet your funding and support requirements, helping you find people quickly for your listings so you can maximise your revenue. We’ve listed some of the other benefits for SDA providers below.

Nest is secure and independent

This is the key feature of Nest. The platform has been developed specifically for people with disability so they can easily find SDA vacancies that match their needs. For this process to work properly Nest needs to be freely available to all SDA providers with no preferences given to any one provider. The only requirement that we have is that a provider is a genuine provider of SDA.

Connect with 100s of people with disability

Once fully operational, Nest can give you access to hundreds of people with disability with SDA funding to spend. The platform works by matching registered people with disability who are searching for accommodation with properties and rooms listed on Nest that meet their funding, support and personal requirements based on information users provide in a personal profile. Once suitable matches are made, the person (or their carer/support worker) can apply for that room. As a provider, you receive their information and details about how they are matched to your room. You can then contact them to start any discussions about filling the room. This process ensures you are able to connect with people with disability looking for SDA, enabling you to fill vacant rooms fast, and saving time searching for eligible people.

Keep your properties and room applications easily organised

Nest allows you to upload as many SDA properties as you wish, even if you are not yet ready to advertise them. As a provider, you are able to turn your listings on and off when needed, meaning you can get organised ahead of time. If you know a room will become vacant in a few months’ time, set your listing on Nest to ‘on’ so users can search and review your vacancies. Nest also allows you to list one property at a time, or as many properties as you wish. If you have multiple properties, you can use our bulk upload tool list them all at once.

It’s free!

Nest is currently in its early stages so it is free for everyone – providers, people with disability and carers/support workers. There is an expectation that in time there may be some costs associated for providers (Nest will always be free for people with disability and carers/supporters). With that in mind, we suggest, for now, to take advantage of the free version of Nest and register so you can list as many SDA properties as you can for free! If you’re not quite ready to join Nest yet, look out for information about any changes to the cost and options available further down the track.
